Zombified

I did not get much sleep last night and so my words come out clumsily.
The One Hitters won both our softball games last night and thus begin the summer
season auspiciously with a 2-0 record. We played an enthusiastic team from Burns
and McDonald, they were newcomers to E league softball. These kids were young,
fresh off the baseball diamond and therefore not mellow enough for
the beer swiggin, pot bellied life of a softball player. They will learn,
losing can teach you so much about life. We should be goddamn
wisemen by this point. They didn't look like engineers and my brother
speculated that maybe they were janitors at the huge complex on Ward Parkway.
You know, it's next to the Jewish Synagogue (Temple?) and it U-shaped.
Very interesting architectural design.

Summer hours are here at the National Catholic Reporter, we leave at noon on Fridays,
but I'm leaving even earlier today, utilizing those personal hours, so I can get an eye
exam and purchase some prescription sunglasses. Then to fix the air
conditioner, nap and off to the Cemetery to pay my 'spects to the ancestors.
Much love to those early fowl who scouted the ponds and marsh areas of
the past so that this Canadian could fly. At 20,000 feet, I have a view that
most of you only hear about from your friends who take airplanes places, ah shit,
that skill just isn't unique anymore.

DK in town this weekend, maybe I'll post some pictures of his epic stay, but
it's not bloody likely cause I have no digi shooter. Maybe I'll scan some prints
taken from Katy's Canon--yes, I promise you, the dedicated readers of my
first blog, in recognition of this historic moment, pictorial access to the good times
had when DK decided to pay respects to his high school stomping grounds--
maybe we'll even look up Steve Harris and Conor Mulcahey and start a new series,
"Where are they Now"--we could run this as a feature here on the blog. I'm still
zombified, so excuse the rambling. My folks are taking Katy, Andy and I out to
dinner this evening.

My votes-- Good Mexican (Katy's Grandma's Spot in JoCo, not sure the name), PotPie, Brio
Frondizi's, Circe, Blue Koi (always a good choice), the new restaurant in the old Matador's,
Il Centro, the Peach Tree. Probably leaning towards Frondizi's or Matador's replacement
because of the outside dining options.
